Sugared Stars and Stripes
This is an extremely easy nail art design and anyone can do this. You just need a few polishes, some tools and a little patience. To create this look, you’ll need:
- A textured shade (I am using Sally Hansen Sugar Coat in Cotton Candies)
- Three non-textured polishes (I am using Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in I Lilac You and Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Mellow Yellow and Violet Voltage)
- Nail art brush
- Painter’s tape
- A star-shaped hole punch
- Wax paper
Best Nail Art Designs 2014
- Paint a base with one of your non-textured polishes (I Lilac You) and then, use a nail art brush to create three stripes with another one of your non-textured polish (Violet Voltage). Leave some space between the stripes for your other color.
- Now, fill in the spaces with stripes of your last non-textured polish color. You may want to go over the stripes to reach the desired opacity.
- Apply the topcoat now. This step is necessary at this stage because we won’t be applying the topcoat to the textured stars.
- Stick a piece of painter’s tape onto wax paper to make punching holes easy. Then, use the star-shaped hole punch to make three stars at some distance.
- Slowly peel the tape off and stick it on your nail. Be sure to push down hard around the edges of the stars to make sure the polish doesn’t seep underneath.
- Now, paint your textured shade onto a makeup wedge and press it lightly onto the tape so that the polish is transferred to the nail. Repeat once more for extra texture.
- Carefully and slowly remove the tape and let your nail rest for a while to make sure the design sets.
